The Cause

To Our Potential Pledge:

On April 4, 2009, for the first time ever, “Love for our Ladies” will be hosting a non-profit Breast Cancer awareness and fundraiser event. This will be a Coed Team Park Jam in Beaver Creek’s Lumberyard. This day is dedicated to unifying the community, spreading some knowledge about Breast Cancer, and potentially raising $10,000 for the Vail Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Group.

As we all know, cancer causes more then just physical pain to those having it. To many families, financial difficulties are dealt with every day due to expensive treatments, sickness due to Chemo and Radiation, and even just affording a babysitter for those long days at the hospital. With this single event, we can reach out to many of those in need, lets unite and give them the slightest gift of relief in their fight for life.

My Mom, who has been fighting Breast Cancer for four years, is the inspiration I have felt to help others. Her dedicated fight to learn about her illness led her upon a trial drug called Herceptin. This drug, which only a quarter of women can take (due to the presence of their HER-2 gene), is a non toxic form of preventing the cancer to spread: A true miracle. No hair loss, no sickness, just right to the point pure treatment. This drug, now certifiably on the line is helping thousands of women daily, and giving them the hope they need to wake up each morning and keep on fighting.

We must unite as women, as men, and as families and try and extinguish this cancer that has taken so many of our precious lives. Please, let’s help those who need it!
